GARY WALLACE ENDOWMENT The Knoxville Dollars for Scholars chapter received a contribution to our endowment fund from Marilyn Wallace in honor of her husband, Gary Wallace. This contribution will provide annual scholarships to graduating Knoxville students with an interest in becoming a teacher with a science or physical education major. Gary began his Knoxville teaching and coaching career in 1962. While he coached many sports for Knoxville, he is mostly remembered for his freshman football coaching career, having coached many, many sons of fathers who also played for him. Among the many life lessons he worked hard to teach his student athletes was that losing is a part of life, but we should learn from it and make ourselves better from it. “We’re very thankful for this wonderful contribution to our program, stated Chris Hoegh, chapter president. Gary Wallace gave a tremendous amount of his life to his students and student-athletes, this memorial scholarship will grow over the years and provide many graduates with a head start toward their higher education.”

“Knoxville’s Dollars for Scholars has done a lot in recent years for our local students. I’m pleased to support their program with a named scholarship that will go to a young woman pursuing an education in the dental or medical field. Good luck to all Knoxville graduates!” Dr. Lisa Holst
